Welcome to apartment Sonnweit in the heart of the East Tyrolean Dolomites. The apartment has just been completely renovated and newly furnished – with quality furniture, natural materials and a lot of attention to detail. Two cosy rooms give you space to unwind: a bedroom with a king-size double bed and a living room with kitchen, dining table, workspace and sofa bed. Quietly located on the second floor, with views of mountains and valley.
Ideal for anyone who wants nature, peace and modern living in one place – as a couple, with a child, or as a workation: at your own desk with fast Wi-Fi and a view of the Dolomites, concentrating is surprisingly easy. A place to stay in East Tyrol that feels like home, whether for a weekend or a few weeks. The name says it all: Sonne (sun) from morning to evening and Weite (wide open space) as far as the eye can see.

The apartment is in Göriach, the highest part of Dölsach on the road up to the Iselsberg pass – on the sunny side of the Drau valley, ten minutes from Lienz and yet completely quiet. The Lienz Dolomites rise directly opposite, the Ederplan begins behind the house, and over the Iselsberg you reach the Großglockner in half an hour.

Arriving well – by car, train or bus.
The apartment sits on the road from Dölsach up to the Iselsberg pass, about 7 km east of Lienz. Göriach is the highest part of the village – just follow the road uphill.
By car
- From Vienna / Graz: A2 and A10 to Spittal an der Drau, then the B100 through the Drau valley to Lienz and Dölsach – about 4½ hours from Vienna.
- From Salzburg: A10 Tauern motorway – Spittal – B100, about 2¼ hours. Alternatively via Mittersill and the Felbertauern tunnel.
- From Munich / Germany: Kufstein – Kitzbühel – Mittersill – Felbertauern tunnel (toll, open all year) – Lienz, about 3 hours.
- From Innsbruck: via the Felbertauern or via the Brenner pass and the Val Pusteria, about 2½ hours either way.
- From Italy: via Dobbiaco / San Candido and the Val Pusteria to Lienz – about 3 hours from Venice, 1½ hours from Cortina.
- Good to know: Austrian motorways require a vignette, the B100 does not. Winter tyres are compulsory in wintry conditions from 1 November to 15 April; the road to Göriach is cleared. Two parking spaces right at the house.
By train & bus
- Lienz station: direct Railjet from Vienna Central Station (about 5 h 20 min, twice daily), connections via Salzburg – Villach (Tauern railway) and via Innsbruck – Fortezza – Val Pusteria.
- Then by bus: line 942 (Lienz – Dölsach – Iselsberg – Winklern) from Lienz station to the stop “Dölsach Debanttal”, about 15 minutes – from there it is around 200 m on foot to the apartment. Roughly hourly on weekdays, less frequent at weekends.
- Or by taxi: about 10 minutes from Lienz station.
- Regional trains also stop in Dölsach – the station is down in the valley (about 4 km), continue by taxi.

Hi, we are Sissi and Johann.
Sissi was born and raised in East Tyrol until she left to study; Johann grew up in the mountains of Salzburg. At some point it was clear we needed a place here to keep coming back to. The apartment has become our retreat – with a view that takes our breath away every single time, and guaranteed sunshine high up on the slope. We love the mountains, in summer and in winter.

Where exactly is the SONNWEIT holiday apartment?
In Göriach, the highest part of Dölsach on the road to the Iselsberg pass – at about 1,000 m on the sunny side of the Drau valley in East Tyrol, Austria. Lienz is about 7 km away, the Großglockner about 35 km.
How many people can stay?
Two guests in the king-size double bed; a third guest sleeps on the sofa bed in the living room. A baby high chair is available on request.
Is the apartment suitable for working remotely (workation)?
Yes. There is a dedicated workspace with a mountain view and fast Wi-Fi, and the location is very quiet. If you would like to stay longer – a few weeks of working from the mountains, say – just get in touch with us directly.
Is there parking?
Yes, two free parking spaces right at the house.
Can I get there without a car?
Yes. Take the train to Lienz, then bus line 942 for about 15 minutes to the stop Dölsach Debanttal, about 200 m from the apartment – or a taxi, which takes 10 minutes. Details are in the Getting here section.
How does check-in work?
Self check-in via key box from 3 pm. You receive the code by e-mail before arrival. Check-out is by 10 am.
What is the minimum stay?
Two nights. Final cleaning is charged once at € 70, plus the local tourist tax of € 2.60 per person and night.
How much does a night cost?
Prices depend on season and length of stay and are shown live in the booking section – booking directly on this website is the cheapest way to stay, as no platform fees apply.
Is there somewhere to keep bikes and e-bikes?
Yes. There is a storage room in the house where bikes and e-bikes can be parked and secured with your own lock (the room itself cannot be locked). The Drau cycle path is about 2 km away – ideal for the Lienz – San Candido stage or day trips in the Drau valley.
Where can I buy groceries?
The SPAR supermarket in Dölsach is about 2 km below the apartment, the Joast bakery café (Café Pause) in Nußdorf-Debant around 4 km. All other shops, drugstores and pharmacies are in Lienz, 7 km or 10 minutes away.
Is the apartment accessible in winter?
Yes. The road to Göriach is cleared and the apartment has central heating. The Zettersfeld and Hochstein ski areas in Lienz are about 10 km away, the Mölltal Glacier about 50 km.
